I had three potential users participate, one had previously seen the site and the other two had not.

Think Aloud:

I was interested in first impressions of the site and if the potential users could actually see themselves visiting and using it. Then, the task was to navigate the site to get ‘Tips and Tricks’ for creating a smoky eye.

Summary of Think Aloud:

All three users really enjoyed the outlay of the site upon immediate arrival, they were all intrigued by the clean color scheme as well the photos on the home page. One user expressed interested in seeing my picture somewhere to be able to make a personal connection with the author (me) of the site. There was a general consensus of comfort and ease of the outlay.

All three users successfully completed the task of finding tips and tricks for creating a smoky eye. In general, the feedback was positive and all three participants were pleased with the photos included and said that they aided in navigation and held their interest.

Summary of Posttest Interview:

In general the biggest parts of feedback that I got was that the users would like to see more information. The users felt comfortable that the material was current, relevant, and that they would be excited to refer to my Makeup Artist website for tips, tricks, and makeup information.

All three users would enjoy more pictures and more content, two of the users were satisfied with the layout and the color scheme, and one expressed interest in seeing more colors and designs to make it look more fancy. One user expressed particular interest in seeing more education about skincare, and makeup that is best for different skin types. One user also thought it would be a good idea to put my picture somewhere on the site so that women using the site can make a connection with the creator.

Findings to be implemented

As a result of the Beta Test, I will make the following changes:

1.) Add my picture to the homepage so that I can personalize my Makeup Artist site and so that users can feel a connection with the creator.

2.) I will add more content, especially in regards to skincare and which types of makeup work best with different skin types.

3.) I will continue to update content so that it stays current and relevant, and continue to add content and pictures as necessary.

4.) I will add more design to the basic layout so that it is more eye catching and intriguing.

Findings that will not be implemented:

In general I plan to stay with the basic design and color scheme of the site so I can maintain the clean and easy layout that all of the potential users really enjoyed.
